What's Chef Vanda Up To?

Bust, Busy, Busy. Chef Vanda had a full schedule this past few months. For her regular clients, Chef Vanda created a month of meals for a young boy who had to follow the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, for our vegetarians new recipes with seitan and vegetable loaf, clients wanting to lose weight were treated to South Beach Diet versions of their favorite dishes. Sprinkle in some Elegant Parties and a few Cooking Demos.  This was one busy winter.

Spring 2007

After a relatively mild winter, the farmer's markets are bursting with beautiful locally grown vegetables. This season's bounty includes hearty lettuces, bright green broccoli, radishes with snap, carrots of different colors and every kind of beans you can imagine. Early tomatoes and peppers are already showing up. This is a great time of year to experiment with vegetables.

 

 

Spring Clean-up: This time of the year is a great to organize the kitchen. Throw out old oil, vinegars and spices. Get into the refrigerator and scrub the inside with a natural cleanser.

 

 

Cooking Classes: Learn to cook with your friends in your own home, on your own stove is all the rage. Gather your friends for a night of fun, learning and eating good food. Great for birthdays, fun gatherings and bachlorette parties. This spring has brought Chef Vanda to so many clients' homes for a custom cooking class experience.

Winter 2006

Intensive Independent Study of South Beach Diet. Chef Vanda is continually expanding her knowledge with new recipes and techniques. The South Beach Diet discipline is not just a quick weight loss gimmick diet, it can be a good healthy lifestyle that is easy to follow.

The fall fruits and vegetables are here. All of my favorite apples are abundant; granny smith, golden delicious, and Fuji apples.

They look and taste better this time of the year, you really can tell the difference.

 

I love browsing through the various nuts and dried fruit section, there always something new to discover. And a great addition to salads. This time I picked up glazed walnuts.

 

 

 

This year's fish harvest has been fantastic at the local fish markets. Big beautiful shrimp, healthy looking fish, tender squid and giant Maine lobster. I choose the most succulent, freshest looking seafood.
